সরকারি চাকুরী পরীক্ষায় আজকাল বিভিন্ন ধরণের প্রবাদ বাক্যের অনুবাদ এসে থাকে। এখানে কিছু বিগত পরীক্ষাগুলো হতে বাছাইকৃত  গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রবাদ বাক্যের অনুবাদ দেয়া হলো। আশা করি সকলেই উপকৃত হবেন ইনশাআল্লাহ।

·        উলুবনে মুক্তো ছড়ানো ।
 Pearls before swine.

·        উৎপাতের কড়ি চিৎপাতে যায়।
 Ill got, ill spent.

·        একবার না পারিলে দেখ শতবার ।
 If at first try you don’t succeed, try, try again!

·        কত হাতি গেল তল, মশা বলে কত জল ।
 Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

·        ঘষতে ঘষতে পাথরও ক্ষয় হয়।
 Constant dripping wears out the stone.

·        আপন গায়ে কুকুর রাজা।
 Every dog is a lion at home.

·        ডোল ভরা আশা আর কুলো ভরা ছাই।
 Extravagant hopes lead to complete disappointment.

·        নিজের পায়ে কুড়াল মারা ।
 To dig one’s own grave.

·        উঠন্ত মুলো পত্তনে চেনা যায় ।
 Morning shows the day.

·        কম পানির মাছ বেশ পানিতে উঠলে ও মাছে বেশ লাফালাফি করে ।
 Being unnecessarily flashy is pointless

·        কাঁটা দিয়ে কাঁটা তোলা ।
 Using a thorn to remove a thorn.

·        কুকুরের পেটে ঘি মজে না।

To cherish a serpent in one’s bosom.

 you will know now what’s what.

          কোন চালাকি চলবে না

          তোমার রাগ নিয়ন্ত্রন করা উচিৎ

          তোমার মুখে ফুলচন্দন ফুটুক

          তুমি কি নিয়ে ব্যস্ত?

         ·     To find fault is easy.

       দোষ ধরা সহজ।

        দেখলেই বিশ্বাস হয়।

        অলস থাকার চেয়ে সেবা করা ভাল।

 A friend in need is a friend indeed.
